Alexander Wang, born and raised in San Francisco has come a long way in a short time as a fashion designer. The story of Alexander Wang is truly an overnight success. Just recently Mr. Wang collaborated with Gap that featured a very sporty lifestyle; So It doesn’t surprise me much that his spring collection would be very sporty. Wang’s spring 2010 collection featured very sporty looks that showed inspiration from football in the early 40’s. Cut off sweaters, knee high socks, letterman’s jackets, and handbags the shape and color of footballs. The only problem I have with this collection is that it wasn’t enough. With the celebrity crowd on front row and all the hype he’s gained in the past months the collection just wasn’t enough. He also stated in an interview that his customer wanted more investment pieces but from what I have seen a lot of the pieces were a little to forward to last more than two years, although the soundtrack was amazing. The beginning song can actually be heard at the Rickshaw Stops Blow Up, where the San Francisco trendy hipster’s party. Overall the collection was great just not enough detail to the theme.
